WHAT'S THE DIFFERENCE?
MEDITATION it is a voyage of discovery taken by the subject alone (although with some idea or method to follow). In this way, meditation offers a level of self-efficacy that hypnotherapy may not. Traditional meditation techniques vary, but they all rely on you the practitioner doing the work internally. You take the reins and find your own path.
You can read about my own path here.
the subject is gently GUIDED to a different state by the HYPNOTIST.
A middle ground
As the subject you are still guided into trance, but guided there by yourself!
That sounds like a contradiction but when you learn it, it becomes self-evident.
Through self-induced hypnosis you can achieve the calmness, peace and inner stillness associated with meditation... and so much more.
While maintaining that all important self-efficacy.
The benefits of using trance states have been understood for thousands of years in all cultures. They have been used by shaman to cure, and by dictators to control the masses. And it still continues; In our modern society we are all subject to trances and hypnotic persuasion, often without even knowing about it. Without a solid grip on the controls of the mind, you risk becoming merely a puppet in the world, dictated to by the media puppet masters. Many of the troubling psychological problems that exist today, particularly in the young, stem from this loss of self-mastery.
My personal Journey into Meditation
When I was a teenage boy, living in a poor, working-class, traditional English household, I began to explore ideas of meditation, and non-religious spirituality. Back then, before the internet existed, information was scarce. No one I knew meditated. I had no guru. I would go off to the big library in the city centre in search of information, and although I didn’t really know what I was looking for, I would find books that I felt drawn to. They often contained terminology that I didn’t fully understand and the only way to learn was to hold onto those nuggets of information and practice and experiment in the solitude of my own room and my own mind... Over 40 years later, I am still practicing meditation.
In those intervening years of course, I also discovered Hypnosis. I have often considered that the line between hypnosis and spiritual practices of meditation is a thin one. I come from no particular religious position but I believe that trance states are sacred. I believe that making contact, deep profound and meaningful contact with the unconscious is a spiritual experience.
So I come to you, as a Hypnotherapist, offering a tool to assist in your spiritual journey.
